God Bless America

I love America as much as the next person, and it's a hard place to leave. I'm not going to France because I think that life there will be more charming or beautiful than life in the good old US of A. (I don't even like cheese! but I'm working on it) I do like a little adventure, meeting new people, seeing the world, etc.
These are the practical reasons that I'm going to France from October-April: 1. to try out teaching 2. to speak French and live in France 3. to take advantage of a timely opportunity. The real impetus for my trip to France? A sense that I wasn't done with the place after study abroad and a desire to present myself as ready and willing for at least a small part of my life.
Little did I know, choosing the unknown means that you have to get comfortable with not knowing. For the past 3 months, I've been excited about the vague idea of living in France (near Grenoble?). Any day now, I'm hoping to receive my arrĂȘte de nomination [contract] in the mail, which will actually tell me the name of my school, city, (grade? contact person? when to be there?). Hopefully?
Anyway, I can't really complain about life in the meantime. Summer is always happy, especially with the ones you love. I have a sneaking suspicion that life is all about the meantime...
